Excel is one of the most important tool in today's work whether you use it for calculating, forecasting, tracking projects, analyzing data, etc. Know the right formula to use , will save lots of hours work. Here is the 5 essential excel formula that every beginner should know.
1. Sum
Sum is the basic formula as its name, its function is to sum all the figure/number within the vertical or horizontal row or column.
2. Average
Average formula is used for find out the medium value among all data, or in simple word as its formula name is to find the average value among many numeric data.
The formula to use in Microsoft excel is typing "Average(nember1,number 2,....)".3. IF
IF is the conditional formula that we want to write or put the condition to be something. Suppose, you want to identify every cell with the word "Sales" turn in to "Front Office" and other words rather than this turn to "Other", simply you can follow as below, or in your practical, you want to write the other condition, just understand that first select the cell that you want to criteria, then apply the condition can be equal to, less than or greater than, then write the condition or words that you want.
4 .VLOOKUP
VLOOKUP is the formula use for looking the specific value in the spreadsheet in vertical column. Suppose, you have a huge dataset and you want to look for the salary under each position, basically, you cannot scroll down and look one by one, in this case, you have to use VLOOKUP to find the salary under each position that will save you time and make your life much easy.
5. CONCATENATE/JOINTTEXT
CONCATENATE/JOINTTEXT is used for combine 2 or more text into one line. you can add other words and leave space from one word to one words by just typing those words in the " ". Suppose, you want to combine name in cell B1 and cell B2, simply you just select the cell, and for the space, you just type " ", and the additional words just write in the quotation marks.
